I have, I confess been a little bit obsessed with Paris lately (see here and here). But alas my long awaited trip to the home of Coco Chanel and Claude Monet has now been and gone. Having made a grand total of seven trips to Paris already, I loved the sense of familiarity and intimacy I felt as I ambled around the city. Although I admit that I had the city map firmly glued to my left hand, it mainly served purpose as a safety blanket.
Our day and night in Paris consisted only of eating, people watching, strolling, gazing and shopping. Utter. Bliss.
I stayed | At Grand Hotel de l'Univers in St Germain de Pres. An old townhouse in a bustling and trendy area. The rooms were royally decorated and furnished and the sound proofing was perfection. Despite being a stone's throw away from a street that never sleeps we honestly could have heard a pin drop when we got back to our room. I slept like a baby!
I ate | A never ending plate of Israeli goodness consisting of falafel, humous, pickles, fried onion, cabbage and egg plant from King Falafel Palace on Rue des Rosiers. Tea (or in my case warm almond milk) and cake in a cafe surrounding Place Des Vosges. Breakfast fit for a prince at Rose Bakery on Rue Des Martyrs consisting of freshly baked bread and jam, bircher muesli with grated apple and almonds and a steaming pot of tea.
I drank | Gallons of port, red vine and gin at a trendy jazz bar in Odeon. The bar has the appearance of a speakeasy from the outside and a beautiful old church from the inside.
I saw | The two hour queue outside Musee de l'orangerie and bid my Monet fix farewell. Winter sunshine over the crystal clear lake in the middle of Jardin Des Tuileries. The passionate embrace of lovers walking down the banks of the river Seine. The effortlessly chic parisians strutting through the streets of Pigalle - checks, camel and high tops teamed with natural faces were in abundance.
I wore | My ancient leopard print dress updated with a cornflower blue cashmere jumper from GAP - less Pat Butcher more Alexa Chung.
I bought | The Maje red chunky jumper - made desirable by the sensational Laura Fantacci
Go on. I dare you. Your very own parisian getaway is just one small click away.
