January is the month of serial hibernation.
As the ice cold winds creep in and the magic of Christmas slips slowly away for yet another year, there is nothing I enjoy more than huddling inside the warm security of my duvet, armed with a steaming cup of milky Earl Grey (and perhaps a cheeky biscuit of two).
As the coveted Duvet Day is best accompanied by a killer box set or one of BBC One's finest Winter dramas, I thought it appropriate to share with you the programme for my next Duvet Day.
The Bridge | Scandinavian crime dramas seem to be an ongoing trend at the moment. Having religiously watched The Killing last year, I thought I would turn my attention to this Danish and Swedish drama about a body of a young woman found on the middle of the Oresund Bridge between Sweden and Denmark. Having already caught a sneaky glimpse of the Series One trailer, I am very much looking forward to the nail biting story line, heavily complimented by the female protagonist's chic nordic wardrobe - I feel a leather trousers addiction coming on. Hurry through Series One and you'll find Series Two on BBC I Player for four weeks only.
Babylon | Danny Boyle in conjunction with the writers of Peep Show, and starring the wonderfully talented and breathtakingly beautiful Brit Marling (see Another Earth and The East), all captured within a comedy about the Met Police. Seriously. Need I say more? Catch the pilot episode on Channel 4 in February.
Girls | Stated to be the raw and vulgar sister of Sex and the City, the dry wit, dysfunctional characters and hilarious but believable script makes Girls a firm favourite of mine. Series Three has been released in the US and HBO announced only yesterday that the first two episodes will be available to watch for free on Youtube. Here's hoping the website doesn't crash.
The Good Wife | Possibly the most addictive legal drama to grace our screens. Put your episode of Suits on pause and do yourself a favour and check this out. It seems to have it all, betrayal, glamour, sex, politics and even murder. My only wish is that a career in law was actually that exhilarating.
Previous Duvet Day programmes include:-
BBC One's adaption of David Nicholl's gripping drama, 7.39
The film adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's bestselling novel, Never Let me Go
The "laugh so hard you start to dribble" US comedy hit New Girl
