The twittering of a bird song, the first bud of the blue bell and the freshness of the air. Ah, Spring has arrived. It may be too early for those long country walks and those regents park picnics but at least you can strut down the street in style, without living in fear of torrential downpour.
THEATRE Most of us can recall watching the gripping and heart breaking but controversial 80s thriller, Fatal Attraction staring a youthful Glen Close. I read somewhere that Glen Close was quoted saying in 2008, 'Men still come up to me and say, "You scared the shit out of me" and sometimes they even say, "You saved my marriage."'. Over 30 years later, it has been reinterpreted for the stage in a compelling production directed by none other than Trevor Nunn himself. With the part of Alex played by the lady with sexuality in abundance, Natasha McElhone (Californication) and the wholesome Kristin Davis (Sex and the City) playing the part of Beth, this adaption already promises to be unmissable.
BAR London Bridge is no longer just the stomping ground of the suited and booted. Bermondsey, its trendier neighbour is overflowing with underground bars and late night raves - the only catch is that you need to know where to find them. One of its newest offerings is Cecil, a 1920s speakeasy hidden away down cobbled Bermondsey Street. This is an exotic and oriental underworld where the liquor is flowing and the music (folk, blues, funk, you name it) is blaring till the early hours.
FILM I had the pleasure of seeing this riveting and impeccably executed movie last night. My boyfriend and I, (alongside pretty much every other person in the cinema)found ourselves sitting there hoping and praying that the each scene would not be the last. Ralph Fiennes was predictably on true form but there are plenty more reasons to see this Wes Anderson creation. Truly brilliant.
RESTAURANT You've had your taste buds tingled at Salt Yard and your tongued sizzled by the flavours of Dehesa, now feast your eyes on the menu at its younger but smarter sibling, Ember Yard. "Smoked Basque Beef Burger with Idiazabal and Chorizo Ketchup." Need I say more?
