Not on the high street

Photo from The Source

I hate shopping.

You wouldn't believe it for a second if you saw my wardrobe but genuinely, there is nothing I hate more than spending an afternoon meandering in between swarms of bewildered tourists on Oxford Street or trying on a mountain of clothes in the sweaty mess of Zara's changing rooms.

My idea of a successful shopping trip is one that is implemented from the comfort of my own home and preferably one that rarely involves me getting up from my bed - except of course to reach for my credit card. That, ladies and gentlemen, is why online shopping is my best friend/worst enemy, depending on whether you are looking at it from the disapproving eyes of my bank manager or the envious eyes of my friends.

What I love most about online shopping is the discovering of new brands, the fabulous array of discounts and most importantly not owning a piece of clothing that is worn by the majority of privately educated teenagers.

So that I am not the only one having daily packages delivered to my desk at work, I thought I would share some of my favourites  with you.

Olive Clothing | Taking its inspiration from vintage Parisian backstreet boutiques and creative new talents, Olive offers affordable and effortlessly stylish clothing for individuals who have an appreciation of classical pieces with a vintage or creative touch. Best for basics and on trend footwear

Vestiaire Collective | If it is the only thing you do today, open an account with the website that is driving all the fashionistas wild. Pre-worn or brand new Chanel, Sandro, Isabel Marant and Prada are all up for purchase here. The best thing about this website compared to other sources of designer goods such as Ebay and Etsy is that the highly trained employees check the authenticity of the items before your purchase monies are released to the sellers. Its genius.

Atterley Road | If you like your blouses with a side of glamour and a dollop of elegance, you have come to the right place. This is the home of lesser known brands such as Selected Femme, Hoss Intropia and Ganni. Best for dresses and bags

Boticca | Boticca has been my go-to place for one of a kind rings at affordable prices for a number of years now. The Boticca team travel the world, sourcing the world's best independent designers and offer them a platform on which to launch their businesses. Definitely worth a look.
