Beating Those Post Christmas Blues

The most disappointing thing about Christmas - aside from erratic games of Pictionary and the abundance of dirty dishes, is that it occurs only once a year. That means only one day a year where you are morally obliged to consume your own body weight in M&S belgian biscuits, create a bottom shaped bulge in the sofa and spend the whole day wearing nothing but a fleece lined onesie. Boxing day is usually occupied with elbows-out sales shopping and the polishing of last night's charcuterie board but come 27th December, the joys of Christmas are merely a distant memory.

This year is the first year since 2010 that I haven't had to be dragged back to work kicking and screaming, so to celebrate I have attempted to suppress the Scrooge in me and prolong the Christmas spirit, well at least until the mince pies run out.

The scent | This Christmas and beyond, I've been burning none other than M&S's frankincense and myrrh scented candles. They are as cheap as chips and make your abode smell like the wise men's holiday home.

The taste | If Christmas had a flavour, I'm convinced that it would be a combination of cinnamon, apple, ginger and nutmeg. Since Santa disappeared up the chimney for another year, I've been in kitchen rustling up the likes of Paleo Apple Spice Cookies and Spiced Ginger Biscuits, as well as making daily trips to Starbucks to satisfy chai latte cravings.

The feeling | Whilst Christmas should be a time for late morning lie ins and afternoon snoozing, in reality the meeting of family and friends tends to equal late night drinking and early morning hangovers. To rectify the damage caused by bottomless mulled wine, I've been having some well deserved "me" time with sizzling hot baths infused with Aromatherapy bath oils and long walks with the pup on Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill and my personal favourite, Holland Park.
