This month has been a very testing one - well, money wise at the least.
The switchery of jobs has meant soldiering along for over two months without regular income. With my impulse shopper hat temporarily removed, I had to be selective and I had to be cruel (winter whites - I'm talking to you.)
Hobbs Agatha Brogues in silver (similar here) - Finding this metallic number was like finding a needle in a haystack. The quest involved a ring around of all the Hobbs stores in the London radius, as well as a meticulous refreshing of the Hobbs webpage. These gems were finally sourced from the Regents Street branch, where I was forced to go a size up (insoles in tow) or go home empty handed, and let's face, downright miserable.
Acne Lambswool scarf in Canada Light grey (similar, purse friendly version here) - This splurge was, I admit entirely unjustified - especially for someone who at the time was scrapping away at every last crumb from the jar of almond butter. Nevertheless, as per usual, I managed to justify this purchase on two accounts, 1) being unemployed meant that I was saving money on weekly travel passes and 2) the scarf doubled up as a blanket for when the boiler predictably stopped working.
Brew Keep Cup in White from Urban Outfitters - Being a proud owner of a gorgeous puppy means far too many early morning walks and consequently far too many early morning Starbucks - if only to add extra hand insulation. The cheaper, more practical answer came in the shape of this coffee keep cup from Urban Outfitters, which is successfully keeping my earl grey warm during the frosty winter mornings.
The Goldfinch - The beginning of January marked the recommencing of my morning commute to work. This hefty number has been on my book bucket list for a least a year so I felt it was high time to give it a go. Having ruined the storyline at least twice, I don't believe that I should go any further but I definitely recommend all Donna Tartt fans to give it a whirl.
Suede A-Line Popper Skirt by Topshop - Whilst I am not usually one to follow trends, my love of all things suede spurred my jump onto the 70's bandwagon. The classic black colour and a-line cut makes this skirt so versatile. To date, I've been readily pairing it with stripes, peasant blouses, ACNE style mohair knits.
Healthy treats courtesy of deliciouslyella and thekitchn - More on this to come but to tickle your tastebuds I'll leave you with date and almond butter fudge, homemade granola and raw cookie dough.
